I S.A.I.D.
I S.A.I.D. (Individual, Social and Interpersonal Development) Project
FUN! This project helps students in classes study the reactions of student’s feelings and observations of family and community reactions to random acts of kindness and gratitude. Students learn to recognize service of others, friendships and bonding. Projects include art, participation and observation. This class also discusses the social skills of appropriate ways to talk and thank those around us, safely. We expect to teach approximately 200 classrooms with each class creating post cards, letters and other forms of “Thank You” projects. One example is to create “Thank You” notes and cards to give to people in the community that the student comes into contact with, who “help” or provide a “service”. From the local bagger at the grocery store to a Congressman, a custodian in a local building, or a farmer in Iowa- students are taught to recognize how each persons life is effected by the acts of another and how saying “Thank you” to family members or a stranger, improves the quality of our lives. A student check list of activities to do in and with others will be handed out. Each student completing the list will receive a certificate of “Outstanding Community Service”. Classrooms who have every student complete the list will also get to have a pizza party!
If you would like your child’s class to participate, please send us the teachers name and contact information. We will be arranging classroom visits starting February 2010 through September 2010. We hope to generate enough funding to do 200 classrooms. lilly.daylilly@yahoo.com or call Lilly Johnson (801) 347-1667
